How much do you charge?
Check out the Rates page for information on web and graphic design! We have very low rates, and are often willing to negotiate, especially with students.
What costs should I expect with starting a new website, aside from the cost of page design and graphics creation?
To be seen on the internet, your page needs to be Hosted on a Web Server.
Currently, PoiNG! Enterprises uses DreamHost to host their web pages. The charge for this is either $120 up front for 150 MB megs of space for one year, or $9.95 a month with a one time set-up fee of $25.
150 MB will allow plenty of room for mp3s and streaming media if you are interested in promoting your music. With an average of 1 MB per minute of mp3, you can easily have an entire 50 minute CD up in both streaming mp3 and real audio formats.
If you do not want your site to have a PoiNG! Enterprises URL, then you need to Register a Domain Name.
Currently, DreamHost offers one free domain registration with each account. The typical cost for this is $70 for two years, $35 for one; however, you can register a domain name from GoDaddy Software for $9 per year. Note that if you do not have a dedicated web host (such as DreamHost), you will need to purchase domain forwarding for an additional $10 per year (which is extremely cheap).
How long will it take you to make my page?
Usually basic graphic and page creation takes 4-7 days to work out all of the kinks and have your page up on a reliable server. Of course, every page is unique, so times may vary based upon the scale of the project and how many projects we have going on at the same time. It will never take us more than 2 days to have your domain name registered and web host acquired with a "coming soon" page, once we receive payment for those services. (We can't pay them unless you pay us!)
How long will it be before my site is shown on search engines?
That is entirely dependent on the search engine. Certain engines, like Snap and Why.com are instantly updated. Others, such as Yahoo, Netscape, Lycos, and HotBot often take weeks to months, if they accept the link at all. In any event, we always register with the main search engines as soon as the page is created.
Do you program HTML straight up, or do you use editors?
We use Microsoft Frontpage 2000 and Macromedia Dreamweaver MX for the best possible WYSIWYG programming. We do know sufficient HTML to troubleshoot, and are adept with JavaScript and Flash. Other programming languages/programs we are currently becoming more proficient in include: Macromedia Director, Fireworks, PHP, and Perl (for CGI purposes).
What do you use to edit audio clips?
Cool Edit 96 or Magix Music Studio 7 Deluxe for editing wavs, MusicMatch for ripping your CD tracks into mp3 files, and Real Encoder for real audio files.
What do you use to create/edit graphics?
Adobe Photoshop 7 Adobe Image Ready Macromedia Fireworks Macromedia Flash 5.0 Ulead Cool 3D 3.0
Can you make animated graphics?
Yes! And we really enjoy doing it! We can also make your website and/or intro page with Flash.
Is the copyright for my logo included in the price of the graphics?
Yes. No one else has your business or your band, and promotions are the most important part of gaining popularity. If you pay for a custom logo, you can use it wherever you want. We'd just appreciate it if you'd include a link to us somewhere, and send people our way when they ask you about your logo! Also, if you make a great sum of money using your PoiNG! logo, any contributions would be both accepted and greatly appreciated.
